Kamala Harris surprised many with her VP pick, Timothy Walz. While many Democrats cheered, Republicans and conservatives began to shake their heads in disbelief due to his record—a record filled with bills and executive orders that push control by force and erode freedoms. Although some of the criticisms from the right about Walz may be exaggerated or less significant, there is still plenty of reason for Americans to question whether this individual belongs in the White House. A Vice President pick that stands against the underlying interests of the people can not only turn off voters but also endanger the well-being of the nation. Such a choice can lead to socialist policies that have never been tested in a country the size of America and could harm the public while undermining our republic.
The Democratic Party’s Choice
The Democratic Party is excited to have, for the first time, a presidential candidate who is a woman of color. They pushed out the truly elected presidential candidate, Joe Biden, an old white man, only to replace him with another old white man—Tim Walz. Many expected a younger candidate to emerge, yet the party once again went with someone who ticks the right boxes: female, check; skin color other than white, check; socialist ideas, check. Socialism, however, is only viewed positively by 38% of American voters, according to a Gallup poll in 2021.
Walz’s Record and Policies
Walz’s socialist approach became evident during the COVID-19 pandemic with his state’s hotline that encouraged residents to “snitch” on their neighbors, mirroring China’s breach of national security hotline. Walz has a long history with China, a relationship that has not received enough scrutiny. He’s a big fan, having visited the country around thirty times—even spending his honeymoon there. This raises serious questions about why a U.S. politician would be so enamored with a nation known for human rights atrocities, including forced sterilizations and imprisonment.
Domestic and Foreign Policy Concerns
Just as in many states, Minnesota residents still suffer from the forced lockdowns, mandates, and arbitrary rules imposed by Governor Walz. These lockdowns destroyed local businesses and set children back academically by an estimated year or more. On the international front, Walz supports war. He met with Ukrainian President Zelensky in April 2023 to discuss the conflict, even though most Americans oppose giving unlimited billions to fuel further death and destruction. The Democrats, once the party of peace, now seem to favor war, while Republicans stand against it.
Free Speech and Censorship
Walz also doesn’t care about what your opinions are on anything because if he or his Democratic colleagues deem your opinion as hate speech or disinformation, they believe you should be censored. Don’t take our word for it—watch the video on MSNBC where Walz himself states, “There’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech.” Any politician, whether Democrat or Republican, who supports censorship has no place in American politics. There is no room for that un-American way of thinking in this country.
The China Connection
Walz’s affinity for China is baffling. He has visited the country multiple times and seems to admire a regime that has been found guilty of crimes like rape, torture, enforced sterilization, and imprisonment. China has also cracked down on dissent in Hong Kong, increasing efforts to rein in protest leaders and rising media censorship. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Walz and the Democrats seem to love China’s methods, from keeping the nation divided to encouraging citizens to snitch on each other. Who would have thought that such practices would find a foothold in America? Yet here we are, with politicians like Walz ready to push these radical ideas onto everyone.
Social and Economic Policies
Walz is also an ally of the radical LGBTQ left. He signed laws to make menstrual products available to all students, regardless of gender. Some on the left argue this is being misinterpreted, but the author of the “Menstrual Equity Bill” clearly stated that it enables transgender students to access menstrual products without asking for them. When Republicans tried to amend the bill to specify “female bathrooms,” Minnesota Democratic state Rep. Sandra Feist argued against it, saying, “Not all students who menstruate are female.” This is the precedent set by Walz and his fellow Democrats.
Moreover, Walz and most Democrats want to lower spending on the military and police, even though they enjoy 24/7 armed protection themselves. They’ll pursue criminals after they’ve harmed you, rationalizing their actions as the result of being victims themselves. Walz’s support for global conflicts, coupled with a weakened military, is a threat to national security. With the military down by around 21,000 troops across branches, getting involved in conflicts is reckless. Instead, we should focus on strengthening our military and pursuing peace.
The Future Under Harris and Walz
If Kamala Harris and Walz win, it will pave the way for the advancement of socialist ideas. We don’t know how far they will go if they get into office, but Harris has already expressed support for a mandatory gun buyback program, which could force Americans to surrender their firearms. The Democratic Party may not allow her to go all out, fearing backlash, but their continuous baby steps toward their goals are a cause for concern. We could see, in the younger generation’s lifetime, a political landscape that mirrors China, the USSR, or Cuba—nations of puppets.
A Vice President pick that stands against the people’s interests can turn off voters and endanger the nation. It’s crucial to select a Vice President who aligns with the nation’s values and prioritizes the public good. The consequences of choosing someone who may one day step up as President could be devastating. The Democrats have rigged their own primary and forced this dangerous duo upon their voters, as usual. It is imperative to vote for a President and Vice President who will restore America’s ability to dream big again.
